Presented ProgramsThe History Center can provide your group or organization with a specialized program at your location or ours on a variety of interesting topics or guided museum tours relating to the history of Jefferson County and surrounding areas. For a complete list of speakers and available programs, contact Ken or Carole. Please make speaker arrangements at least 4 - 6 weeks in advance.Room RentalLooking for a special place to hold a meeting, have a birthday party or hold a reception for your upcoming class reunion or other event. The History Center has a meeting room which can be situated with chairs and or tables for your meeting or event needs. A full range of audio visual equipment is also available on site. Refreshments may be served and eaten in this area. If, needed the JCHC staff can help you with contact information for area resturaunts and individuals specializing in catering. Room rental fees are $20 per event. Mueum admissions are additional for those wishing visit the exhibits or Bowdish model railroad An annual agreement with reduced fees is available for groups wishing to use the meeting room on a monthly basis.Special Group Bowdish ShowsSchedule a Bowdish Model Railroad show for your group anytime. Adult groups require a minimum of 10 attendees or a minimum of $50 in admissions. Student groups require a minimum 10 attendees and at least 1 adult chaperone per each 6 children with a minimum of $25 in admissions. Admission fees also include all of the museum exhibits. Please make reservations at least 7 days in advance in order for us to schedule the Bowdish Model Railroad crew. Home School DayA full day at the museum which includes experiences and activities relating to the history of the county. Time 10 am - 3 pm. Lunch is on your one at a local resturaunt or in the meeting room. Fee - $5 per student Minimum 10 students required) Adult chaperones (no cost) - 1 per 6 students required Please contact us 4 - 6 weeks in advance to make arrangements and discuss your programming interests.Scouts and the History CenterHelping boy and girl scouts of all ages earn merit badges and awards relating to local history is important to us and fun for the scouts. We always have a list of community service projects for scout troops and potential projects for Eagle Scouts Passport to the Past (Flex Day Afternoon)Students (4 - 6 grade) experience history through art, games, exhibits and other activities to discover clues to a significant day in local, state or national history.
